چکیده:
Use of salinity resistant plant is a management principal that is suggested to saline land. Evaluation of environmental stresses can changes thequality and quantity of effective substances of plants.Important of theme is salinity stress especially in Iran. The Ajowan (Carum copticum (L.) C. B. Clarke.) is an annualmedicinal plant and very resistant to salinity. The seeds of it, have essential oil that contains 30-50% Thymol, 15-30%Cymene and 30-40% -pinene. Thymol is an infectingsubstance. So this search was conducted to evaluate effects of water salinity on essential oil quantity and biologicalyield of Ajowain. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Experiments in micro plots were conducted in Islamic azad university ofkhorasgan during summer. Salinity treatments were 0.3(control), 4, 8 and 12 dS/m and completely randomized design were used. Nacl was used and essential oils wereobtained by Clevenger status. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: Effects of water salinity on seeds’ yield, yield of seed essential oils and foliage yield,yield of wet and dry weigh in per m2 were significant(P>0.01) and on percentage of foliage essential oils were significant (P>0.05), but is not significant onpercentage of seeds’ essential oils and yield of foliage essential oils. Increase in salinity cause to decrease ofseeds’ yield, yield of seed essential oils and foliage yield, yield of wet and dry weigh in per m2 and increase in percentage of foliage essential oils..
